You can use just two gpio's to drive an unlimited number of led's using daisy chained 74hc595 shift registers with output latches. Hi all, i'm new to using rp pico, and i'm building a project to learn more about it. You could control this matrix from the gpio pins, but that still limits the amount of leds you can connect (the size of the matrix) and it might also start to draw too much current if you're not careful.
A better option is to connect an led matrix to the i2c bus, using one or multiple i2c i/o extenders. To control multiple 3d printers with octoprint and docker, you need the following: Raspberry pi (raspberry pi 4 with 4gb is strongly recommended for best performance with multiple docker containers).
